Milkys Music Matters... MilkysMilkys sMusic M tatters... MUSIC E CHOBELLY last played in Bedford way back in August of 1993 so as a town were very lucky to have them back playing a secret warm-up show for their big London comeback in October. Listening back to debut album Everyones Got One EGO for short see what they did there you can easily hear why it received such a positive critical and sales response. The second album On was birthed the following year in 1995 and reached no.4 in the album charts based on the back of a run of radio-smashing singles. As a band they always stood out what with Delhi born Sonya Madans outspokenness in the press and through her lyrics allied to the stoney faced Swedish guitar slinger Glenn Johansson. Label issues legal problems health problems you name it they faced it so it was no wonder their career stalled in the mid-90s and although a further three albums were released the music scene had shifted in a different direction. Ahead of the Bedford gig OVL sought a bit of a chinwag with Glenn Youve made us wait for a full comeback For the initial bands of the 90s era there was a bit of stigma attached to coming back. I guess it has to be for the right reasons. What was the trigger for Echobelly Actually after having a meeting with our new agent Jeff Craft at XRay Touring he suggested that we do a comeback show at the Scala with a view to worldwide touring next year. After any musical era there is always a period of time when you go out of the public conscience and become unfashionable especially when that particular musical scene is strong. There is a point when it then comes round full circle and you can exist again.
