Inspired by Renaissance and plainsong church music as well as Bachs St Matthew Passion the work is simple and devotional reflecting the composers deep faith. The folk element of the Mass will be complemented by Spirituals from New Zealand Canada and America sung by Cantamus conducted by Henry Vann while EBCC will draw on the earlier Renaissance inspiration for Martins work in their rendering of William Byrds Four-Part Mass. David Beer will conduct the Martin Mass for Double Choir and the Byrd sung by EBCC. David specialises in choral and orchestral conducting and has had a full-time career in theatre TV and film. Henry Vann - as well as being a local councillor sings with Cantamus St Pauls Church Choir and Voce. In the past he has performed with Kings College Choir and the Rolling Stones.
